Bates Group Joins ACFE for International Fraud Awareness Week November 12-18, 2017

Lake Oswego, OR – Fraud costs organizations worldwide an estimated 5 percent of their annual revenues, according to a study conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The ACFE’s 2016 Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse analyzed 2,410 occupational fraud cases that caused a total loss of more than $6.3 billion.

Due to the seriousness of the global fraud problem, Bates Group will be participating in International Fraud Awareness Week, Nov. 12-18, 2017, as an official supporter to promote anti-fraud awareness and education. Fraud Week champions the need to proactively fight fraud and help safeguard business and investments from the growing fraud problem.

Bates Group joins hundreds of organizations who have partnered with ACFE, one of the largest anti-fraud organizations, for their yearly Fraud Week campaign.

During Fraud Week, Bates Group will be sharing infographics, articles, videos and other information on batesgroup.com and on social media to promote fraud awareness, education, and prevention.

According to Geoff Winkler, Bates Group’s Director of Fraud and Forensic Investigations, “No one is immune from fraud, as it affects every industry in both our business and personal lives.” However, some industries are more susceptible than others, with the banking and financial services industry by far the most common victim, making up 16.8 percent of all victim organizations. This is nearly as large as the next two industries combined, according to the 2016 Report to the Nations.

The 2016 Report to the Nations is available for download as a PDF from ACFE's website. Please see Bates Group’s analysis of this report and occupational fraud here.
