Don M. Chance, Ph.D., CFA, is a Bates Testifying Expert and the Norman V. Kinsey Distinguished Chair in Finance at Louisiana State University. He previously held the William H. Wright, Jr. Endowed Chair for Financial Services and the James C. Flores Endowed Chair for MBA Studies at LSU. He was formerly employed at Virginia Tech, where he held the First Union Professorship in Financial Risk Management. Early in his career, he worked for a large southeastern bank. He has been a visiting scholar at universities in Hong Kong, Australia, the U.K., Korea, Singapore, and the U. S.
Professor Chance is a leading scholar in the area of financial instruments, primarily derivatives, and also risk management. He has written five books on this subject and numerous articles. He has taught numerous professional training programs, has been a major contributor and advisor to the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) program, and he has extensive service as an expert witness. He also has considerable expertise in asset management, fixed income investing, stock indexing, and executive and employee compensation and incentives. Professor Chance also has practical experience with retirement programs such as 401(k)s, being heavily involved in the design and oversight of LSU’s supplemental retirement plan.
